HIGH PERFORMANCE FABRICS FOR PERMANENT CANOPIES
Traditionally, woven fabrics especially coated fabrics were used in tensile and membrane architecture. The development of high performance fabrics that can be applied with bespoke coatings offer enhanced shading and solar control. The scope of architectural applications now ranges from simple “four point sails” to large stadia façade and roofs.
MATERIALS FOR TEXTILE ARCHITECTURE
The range of materials is constantly increasing and PVC-coated polyester fabrics (often referred to as PVC/PES) and PTFE-coated glass fibre fabrics can be used for several applications including canopies and membrane roofing solutions. Advanced materials such as silicon glass or PTFE fabrics are suitable for special applications such as retractable roofs.
Each project requires careful consideration of economic and technical aspects. Temme // Obermeier provides expert advice to ensure that the proposed roof geometry is designed to withstand external snow and wind loads. We work closely with architects and planners to specify the most appropriate membrane materials. By partnering with our clients, we ensure the successful on time and on budget delivery while remaining sympathetic to the design brief.
